Jill Dawe

Dr. Jill Dawe is a native of Newfoundland, Canada and a graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland and Eastman School of Music, Rochester, New York. She is currently an associate professor of music at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Combining a career of performing and teaching, Dr. Dawe plays a wide range of chamber music, solo, and concerto repertoire. She has a particular affinity for new music and interdisciplinary projects which has led to some innovative performances combining piano music with dance, film and other collaborative arts. Performance highlights of this year include an engagement at Escuela Moderna de Música in Santiago, Chile, and upcoming performances with the Heartland Symphony in Brainerd and Little Falls, Minnesota.
The program will be focused around 20th and 21st century music century music which goes beyond the traditions of Western European music and incorporates ideas and sounds from a wide variety of cultures and sources. The music will include Debussy’s Pagodes (Asian and
gamelan inspired); Bartok’s The Night’s Music (sounds of Hungary and nature); Arvo Pärt’s Für Alina (tintintillism); and Mark Scearce’s The 99 Beautiful Names of God (inspired by the Bible, Koran, and current events).
All are welcome. Free-will offering. Refreshments served after.
